Which games are Spell Ward products designed for?
Spell Ward products are designed for Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, Disney Lorcana, One Piece, Flesh and Blood, Riftbound, and Star Wars: Unlimited, as well as other games using standard-size cards.
What is the difference between Matte and Dual Matte sleeves?
Matte sleeves have a matte back that reduces glare.
Dual Matte sleeves include a reinforced inner layer (black), which provides:
- higher opacity
- stronger card protection
- longer lifespan
- a clean and distraction-free card background
Are Dual Matte sleeves truly opaque?
Yes. Dual Matte sleeves feature a double inner layer that ensures high opacity on the back side. This prevents card backs from showing through and is important for fair play and tournament use.
Are Spell Ward sleeves suitable for tournaments?
Yes. The sleeves meet standard tournament requirements including consistent sizing, sufficient opacity, and a non-glare surface. They are suitable for both casual and competitive play.
How does the shuffle feel with Spell Ward sleeves?
The shuffle feel is smooth, simple, and highly controllable. Thanks to the firmness of the material, cards behave consistently without random slipping or sticking.
Do cards slide apart into a tall stack?
No. Because both sides of the sleeves are matte and lightly textured, the deck stays compact and stable. When sleeving a deck for the first time, a small amount of air may remain inside. This naturally gets pressed out after a few games or gentle compression.
Are Spell Ward sleeves suitable for long-term use?
Yes. The sleeves are designed to prevent waving or curling at the open edge even after long-term use. They retain their shape and keep the deck consistent over time.
How long do Spell Ward sleeves last?
Based on long-term experience, there is no need to replace the sleeves even after a year of regular play. The material remains firm and pleasant to handle.
Do Spell Ward sleeves bend card corners?
No. Card corners do not bend unless you intentionally bend them. The firmness and shape stability of the sleeves protect corners even during frequent shuffling.
Which sleeves are best for a Commander deck?
For Commander, we recommend premium Matte or Dual Matte sleeves. Commander decks are shuffled frequently and often contain valuable cards, making quality outer sleeves combined with double sleeving the ideal choice.
How should cards be double sleeved correctly?
Always sleeve from opposite directions. The inner sleeve and outer sleeve should have their openings on opposite ends. This ensures effective protection and prevents exposure to moisture, dust, and air.
Can I use Spell Ward sleeves for double sleeving?
Yes. Spell Ward Perfect Fit sleeves are designed as inner sleeves and are fully compatible with our outer sleeves for maximum card protection.
How many cards fit into a Spell Ward deckbox?
Spell Ward deckboxes are designed to hold up to 100 double sleeved standard-size cards. They are perfect for Commander decks.
Do tokens fit into the deckbox when double sleeving?
When using double sleeving, tokens usually do not fit inside the deckbox. A common solution is to place tokens on top of the deck, where even a larger number fits comfortably.
Does the Spell Ward deckbox open by itself in a backpack?
No. Thanks to strong magnets, the deckbox does not open accidentally during normal transport. Unless you throw it forcefully onto the ground, it stays securely closed.
Can the top and bottom parts of the deckbox be mixed?
Yes. Both the top and bottom parts can be freely combined, allowing you to create color combinations that match your deck, faction, or personal style.
What is the surface of the Spell Ward deckbox like?
The deckbox has a smooth surface, making it suitable for hand-painted customization. Acrylic paints adhere very well.
Can a Spell Ward deckbox handle heavy weight?
Yes. The deckbox construction is extremely durable and can withstand even extreme loads. In real tests, it has supported the full weight of an adult person.
Is the deckbox compatible with a Magnetic Card Holder?
Yes. The deckbox is designed specifically for the Spell Ward Magnetic Card Holder, which fits perfectly inside. Compatibility with holders from other brands cannot be guaranteed.
